Linux can't be that hard to learn.
Mum is pc illiterate but she finds it easier than xp or 95.
Plus she's addicted to foobilliard and kmajongg aswell as the tetris and poyo poyo variants!

it got used a lot when xp updated itself and died!
I have now stopped them e-mailing in xp 'cos we share an e-mail account and it's hard to track down what's been recieved or to filter spam.
Not so with k-mail!

Linux can't be that hard to learn.

Even my father who is 71 is using RR4 successful - He loves Gentoo

My two daughters are on Linux and the PC of my wife is RR4ified too.
After the change to Linux on my womens PCs peace and freedom came in the house. No more Virus. No More Rebooting.
Just surfing and fun. And they need my support very rare.
I love Linux ...

Gentoo transforms a newbie to a GNU/Linux guru. Because it never hides what it's doing. It's a choice over Ubuntu. Ubuntu hides a lot of things (mostly kernel things), Gentoo not.
With this, I don't say that Ubuntu isn't good, Ubuntu is good, but Gentoo too. The difference is that they're different.

i despise anything windows....so I haved used linux exclusively now about 12 years. Currently still using:

sabayon linux 3.2 (2 home machines)
gentoo linux 2006.1 (3 machines - 1 home + 2 business servers)
Redhat Linux 9 (1 business server)
Xandros Linux 4 (1 business server and about 150 business workstations)
Debian stable (6 business servers)

I have 1 windows xp pro qemu image and 1 windows 2000 qemu image that I use when I teach at the college, but thats only because I haven't found a way to make presentations required for online classes in a format that works with the colleges distance learning software (which requires me to use openoffice impress to make the presentations but save them in MS Office format, which I then have to modify and use a piece of windows software known as impatica which converts it to a highly compressed movie so it can be used in angel distance learning without crippling those on dial-up) However, I am making progress on this, because now I have some of the other instructors using moodle distance learning center....and if they would switch college wide, no more ms windows or office required....except when I teach ms office.
