DVD Doesn't boot

Postby Fallenhero » Mon Mar 05, 2007 23:06

So I bought the DVD from open-cd. However, it after setting my system to boot from my external usb-dvd driver it doesn't boot. Just shows the "Boot From CD:" prompt and will remain there in defiantly. Faulty DVD or is there something I'm missing?

Honestly, I've tried everything. Kind of feel like an idoit asking this question... but my god. How do you get the damn thing to boot!?

The BIOS boot order is right. I acts like it's trying to read the DVD... then just stops and stays at the prompt.

which prompt?

Do you plan to install Sabayon on this external drive, or is it installed on this drive?

Have you tried to install another Distribution on this drive?

The drive is already partitioned into a dual boot Ubuntu/Windows XP. I want to erase the Ubuntu partition.. install Sabayon over it.. while keeping the XP.

The prompt it stays at is "Boot from CD:" Also, I believe this was a liveCD correct? So it should've atleast booted into the liveCD and ran off my system.

It's a CD that I bought from open-cd.org. So it should be of good quality. I felt like supporting the project, but I'm to lazy to donate. So I just bought the CD.

Any other ideas? Computer starts (boot-order is right and everything) it does the normal BIOS check then pops up the text "Boot from CD....." and stays there indefiantly. It acts like it's trying to read the DVD for the first couple seconds (making noise and such), but afterwards there is no response from the DVD drive.

Can't you try to boot this CD to another computer? I mean a computer not using an external DVD drive to boot. It's just a guess and trying to eliminate suspects so you can be sure that the CD really boots.
