Falling at first hurdle!!! Cannot create bootable dvd!!!

Postby rpaul » Sat May 06, 2006 11:00

Hi guys I have downloaded the RR64-Linux-3.0.b1.iso.7z torrent but am unable to burn it into a bootable dvd. i am using Nero on Win(doh)s and the only way I can burn it as an image is to remove the 7z off and force Windows to recognise it as an iso, but when I attempt to burn this I get an error "incorrect seetings do you wish to correct settings?" I have chose ignore, the dvd burns but is not bootable but I do not know what the "correct" settings are or if I have to do something else to the torrent download.

I did not have this issue with the previous version of RR64.

Please help or I will be forced to use the bumbling Windows OS for the rest of my life, filled with the blue screen of death, application errors and the be condemned to upgrade my Windows Media Player for no apparent reason!!!!

Hi rpaul,

Did you remember to unzip the file? The file you d/led from bittorrent is the .iso that has been compressed using open source 7zip. You need to go here http://www.7-zip.org/, d/l and install, then unzip the .iso.7z file, and since you're using nero, double click on the .iso file that is extracted. Just like a .rar or .zip file, gotta extract it first :) Hope that helps, if you have more questions, feel free to ask. Also, I would suggest to ensure that you close the disk session out when asked about the burning details from Nero.
