Upgrade Sabayon 10 to 11.

Postby groot2357 » Sat Feb 16, 2013 6:33

Hi . I've been happily using Sabayon 10 now for a few months, but now I would like to upgrade to Sabayon 11 now that it is out. Sabayon is described as a rolling release, so there should be a way to do it without reinstalling. I've been using rigo, is
there a way to upgrade using rigo??

Not dying question :)
Rolling is rolling, if you update, you always have newest distro. So compare to another distros, update and Sab 11 is on your machine without reinstallation or whathever strange things.

Sabayon is true-rolling, the newest release of Sabayon 11 is just a daily release of your updated sabayon 10 which now "became" Sabayon 11 ;)

I guess everything is automatically updated except for the kernel then?..............Sabayon 11 release notes say it has
kernel 3.7. My machine is fully up to date according to rigo, but I have kernel 3.5.

if you "roll" SL , kernel upgrade is done manually.

When SL Official Release comes out , it is fully "bleeding edge"

Ok, I'm new to Sabayon, but I thought you shouldn't mix package management systems. I've been using rigo and don't see a way to upgrade everything (kernel etc) using it. Is there a way do it with rigo, or do I have to use something else?
