Black side borders (screen proportions)

Postby Zboj » Wed Jan 30, 2013 8:49

Hello all,

I have little issue with fullscreen applications running in non-native resolutions. My monitor has proportions 16:9 and when I run for example ioquake3 in resolution 1024x768, screen is displayed as 4:3 on 16:9 monitor. Hence black side bars on both sides.

Graphic card: nVidia GeForce 240M GT

I was looking for a solution on the Internet, but lots of them concerned Windows only. Unfortunately, they were no match for Linux.

I also tried to add
Code: Select all
Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true"
into xorg.conf, as described here. I know it's for ATI cards only, but I have seen this input in nvidia configs as well (and it was already in my xorg as a comment "#"). Again though - no change.

Would be grateful for solution.

Try to change option in your monitor widescreen video display or something like this.
The quieter you become, the more you able to hear - Backtrack||Linux.org
