Rebooting recursively straight after startup [Solved]

Postby Johnny Who » Mon Jan 14, 2013 20:01

After upgrading my sabayon yesterday, it shuts down straight after boot, the reboots and the same infinitely goes on until I hard power off the machine. I was using lxdm when the problem first occured, then switched to lightdm (with the use of a live usb), without any results. After that, I booted with the nox option, but it does not seem to be a display manager problem, as it still rebooted without dropping me to cli. I am typing these lines through win7, and I am already missing linux  . What should I do???

Can you see where it stops booting at?

Access the log files via live disk?

Interactive mode?

Without any information your bug report is hopeless.

I had this guy on IRC yesterday. He was so frustrated, that he thought of reinstalling …
However, first he tried with chrooting using a 32Bit LiveUSB drive on his 64Bit system, which failed. So he won't be able to provide log files I guess. I don't know how it ended …

Well, I have just reinstalled, and I am very happy about that, because I had bloated my old installation with so much stuff that I was unable to make it lighter and also because I used a better and simpler partitioning scheme and a btrfs root partition!
