SSSD

I would like to use the System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) or something similar as an authentication mechanism to provide access to remote directories. I could not find a package in RIGO that installed SSSD (searched: sssd, heimdal, and kerberos). I did find it in Portage, and executed a "pretend" emerge to see what would happen. The changes looked extensive to me, (but then I don't always know what I am looking at). From the number of new packages, and the configuration changes, I concluded that SSSD is probably not used often (ever?) in a Sabayon desktop environment. Is there an alternative? How do we authenticate to a PDC? The PDC in question uses Samba 4.0 (not a Microsoft PDC/sever).
