Need help setting up Mythtv in Sabayon

Postby MikeB23930 » Sun Dec 23, 2012 19:04

I have installed the Mythtv and Mythweb packages from sabayon-weekly. The only instructions on setting up Mythtv in Sabayon that I was able to find on the web seemed to be incomplete and obsolete. When I tried to follow the article "HOWTO: Setup Mythtv" in the Sabayon wiki I got the following:

"/usr/bin/mysql_install_db

FATAL ERROR: Could not find ./bin/my_print_defaults

If you compiled from source, you need to run 'make install' to
copy the software into the correct location ready for operation.

If you are using a binary release, you must either be at the top
level of the extracted archive, or pass the --basedir option
pointing to that location."

Presumably, the last paragraph of that error message is applicable to my situation, but I don't know what "the top level of the extracted archive" is or what "the --basedir option" is about. Can some one please help me set up Mythtv?

FYI: I have been using MythBuntu for six or eight years.

Thanks for your help.

Mike

Try "equo config dev-db/mysql". You can find instructions at the Gentoo wiki
