Can I disable automatic checking for updates? [Solved]

Hi all,

Can I disable this automatic , after login, update check?
As it tries to check for updates even before the popoup window for the modem pin appears, it is a waste of time.
I have a feeling it sometimes conflicts with said popup window, as it sometimes doesnt appear at all and I have to reboot to get a net connection

I am on sabayon 10 KDE 64bit, Kernel 3.6 but this problem occured on 3.4 also

magneto handles that:

Should be able to control that thru the session start up of your desktop environment

I had a look around and cant find anywhere to prevent it starting
I tried amending the file
/usr/lib/entropy/magneto/magneto.py
and changing this line to
startup_delay = 300

but it didnt work.

Upon checking further, it seems the culprit is RigoDaemon which starts automatically.
I cannot as yet find a way to prevent it starting automatically

As wolfden suggested, magneto-core handles that package, so you can remove it using the package manager and it won't start anymore.
As an alternative you can simply disable magneto applet autostart in the desktop environment, each environment provides a specific way to disable or enable applications autostart.

removing the 3 magneto items did the trick.

Right click on the magneto systray icon and click on the disable notifications options.
