Clementine static sound

Since the last updates Clementine has static, a buzz at the start of each song. It starts with a new song and then often goes away within a about 10 seconds or so. Moving the mouse to a new program on the screen and causing an event to be triggered often stops the static. Any ideas what it could be or how to fix it? It is not reproducible every time. Using a normal updated system. The error my be related to having VLC running but paused, but I am not sure about that.
