Anybody installed Grub2 into xfs partition?

Hi!
Grub2 should work with a xfs root partition: http://xfs.org/index.php/XFS_FAQ#Q:_Does_GRUB_work_with_XFS.3F
I tried Ubuntu-based distris Mint MATE and Kubuntu - no success; Debian-based LMDE - success.
So my question is: How is it in SL 10 KDE 64 bit?
I prepared 2 log. partitions (root and home), formatted as xfs (PartedMagic/GParted).
The installer will start the installation without asking for a boot loader device (not ideal); so installation could fail later on.
Anybody succeeded in installing Grub2 into a xfs root partition on SSD?

Q: Does GRUB work with XFS?

There is native XFS filesystem support for GRUB starting with version 0.91 and onward. Unfortunately, GRUB used to make incorrect assumptions about being able to read a block device image while a filesystem is mounted and actively being written to, which could cause intermittent problems when using XFS. This has reportedly since been fixed, and the 0.97 version (at least) of GRUB is apparently stable.

if you want Btrfs root partion , you need /boot partiton (ext3/4 xfs or other)

Yes, I know that you can not boot from btrfs (but e.g. ext2, 3 or 4 as own boot partition with btrfs root).
But my question was, if in SL you can install Grub2 into xfs.
And: in LMDE and PCLinuxOS it is possible, in Mint and Ubuntu not - why?
Different Grub2 versions? Missing packages?

1. Or could it be a problem within the installer? Strange that it works in some distributions.
2. Why does the installation starts before asking where to install Grub? To save a few seconds? It makes no sence, and other Linux distributions are showing a better way:
a. In Ubuntu based systems you can choose the bl device in the first window
(second best solution, because the installation starts too early)
b. in openSuse, Linux Mint Debian and some other new distributions you see an overview before the installation starts

Yes, I have installed numerous sabayon systems with all XFS partitions, and have been bypassing the /boot partition for years without trouble. I've been running XFS on root partition on both mechanical, hybrid and SSD's without problems for a few years now.

My setup on desktop is a samsung 830SSD with XFS on all partitions. Works wonderfully, without issues, straight from anaconda installer (custom install).

Prior to (or as soon as I boot from HD the first time) I mod the entry in /etc/fstab to look like so:

 UUID=485dd59f-9831-4055-9184-18031eb6aa33 /       xfs     ssd,discard,noatime,nodiratime        0 0

Note that XFS needs no fsck (mount handles all filesystem check and repairs, xfs_tools cover disastrous issues).
