Corrupted connection with Trendnet USB wireless adapter

Hello. I am experiencing serious connectivity problems with my wireless card, a Trendnet TEW-648UB with a Realtek chipset, using the r8712u driver. I can't update the repositories with equo, because it fails with an error message about repository integrity. There are also problems while browsing, with frequent blank or scrambled pages, and, on sites with secure connections, continuous error messages. This leads me to believe that data is somehow corrupted by the card, which works perfectly under both the LiveCD and Windows. Any ideas?

To start, I would plug it in via ethernet cable and reinstall the driver, just to make sure that the current installation isn't somehow corrupted.

Sometimes LiveDVDs can be slightly corrupted without showing any signs unless you run a checksum on the iso and verify the burn.

If you have checked the LiveDVD as requested by Stupot (see Checking the integrity of a LiveDVD/CD) and it is definitely OK... You mention that WiFi works perfectly with the LiveDVD but not after installation. In the latter case, is that before or after rolling to latest (equo update && equo upgrade && equo conf update)? Also, is that before or after upgrading to the latest SL kernel (linux-sabayon-3.6-r3)? If the LiveDVD works perfectly and you have checked the burn is perfect and wireless does not work perfectly immediately following installation, I suggest you check which modules are loaded in each case (i.e. use the lsmod command as root user when running the LiveDVD, then use it immediately after installing SL) to see if another wireless module is loaded after installation.

The installation DVD I used does actually seem to be corrupted. However, I'm not sure whether that can account for all of my issues, since the system won't boot after installing the 3.6 kernel (going back to 3.5 is fine). I guess I'll try a fresh install from a new DVD.

If your PC can boot from a USB pen drive then you could instead create a LivePenDrive using e.g. UNetbootin, as I find LivePenDrives faster and less likely to be corrupt than optical media.
