LXkeymap on Sabayon Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaze !

Postby Asimov » Wed Nov 14, 2012 2:31

Programming on a french-canadien layout is a pure torture. I need to be able to switch my keyboard layout. This small utility work on LXDE and on Enlightenement.

So far, i am unable to find a tarzed of the application.

KDE is not bad, but Dolphin is still uncompleted and a bit weird.

You should file a bug here:
https://bugs.sabayon.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Entropy
Select “Request” in the Component category.

In the mean time, just try using setxkbmap in your terminal.
For a US English layout:
Code: Select all
setxkbmap us

For a US English international layout:
Code: Select all
setxkbmap us_intl

To switch back to a French azerty layout:
Code: Select all
setxkbmap fr

No logging in and out required.

I need something more practical. The French-canadian layout is a layout for a QWERTY keyboard. it is a very bad layout for programming.

As you can see, many commons operators are in the third level. And you have to do some tweaking to have this third level.
I know how to do with a graphical interface, but finding the information to do it with a command line is almost impossible.
