Back Up and Re-install [Solved]

Postby B3rtm3n » Thu Nov 01, 2012 21:37

Hi, I had to re-install Sabayon

I did :

Code: Select all
equo rescue backup

and copied the back up file from /var/lib/entropy/client/database/amd64/ to the new system and did:

Code: Select all
equo rescue restore

but the packages did not install

Am I missing something? How can I re-install all the packages?

If your installation is clean there is no backup-files in /var/lib/entropy...

You did save previous backup file and restore then

you did well, but i believe after
equo rescue restore
you have to do a
equo upgrade --ask
'cause the restore function doesn't contact Entropy to download the packages,
it just kinda updates or registering/notify the system about the installed packages database,
but to actually have them installed again, you have to upgrade.

Thanks for your help!

Actually nothing is happening when doing these commands, it goes like this for me:

localhost peter # equo rescue restore
Entropy installed packages database restore tool
    >> Select the database you want to restore
    >> [1] [2012-10-31 20:41:55] /var/lib/entropy/client/database/amd64/entropy_backup___system__.20121031_20h39m46s.backup.bz2

localhost peter # equo upgrade --ask

ah.ok

If you want to reinstall all packages of entropy database , run :

Code: Select all
# equo upgrade --replay --ask

this will download and install all packages and their dependences

see
Code: Select all
# equo --help

Now we are talking business! :D

It got stuck however:

    >> @@ Packages involved: 1805
Would you like to continue with dependencies calculation ? [Yes/No] y
    >> @@ Calculating dependencies ...
    >> @@ Cannot find needed dependencies:
    >> !!! Every package matching =dev-lang/python-3.2* is masked.
    >> # Reason: repository general packages.db.mask
    >> <> atom: dev-lang/python-3.2.3-r1 in sabayonlinux.org

So I unmasked Python (Still do not understand why this is masked)

Code: Select all
equo unmask 'dev-lang/python-3*'

Now it is pulling in:

    >> @@ These are the packages that would be removed (conflicting/substituted):
    >> ## [W] [from: sabayonlinux.org] sys-apps/man-1.6f-r5
    >> @@ Packages needing to be installed/updated/downgraded: 1822

    >> @@ Download size: 6032.9MB
    >> @@ Used disk space: 180.6MB
    >> @@ You need at least: 12252.3MB of free space

This saves me a lot of work reinstalling everything.

Thanks for your help!!
