After Update Not Much Working

Hi Folks!
Crap title ...I know
OK! Been complaining to my girlfriend that she hasn't been using the Media Center....check it and make sure everthing is working she said.....help!

I started it today and can't remember what version of SabayonI had installed, but a lot of updates came and I let it start working....after the updates I rebooted and nada.....

I can choose the recovery and get to root login.....but can't startx etc..... I did notice a lot of errors on boot en verbose mode...

Where do I go from here....do I need a reinstall and then begin the laborious job of setting up everthing again or can I some how save this....

well with no information not even hardware you gonna have to check the log files. It would be impossible to say without information

I'm going to guess he has a Radeon HD 2xxx 3xxx or 4xxx card.

OK! I checked my logs and there was a ton of stuff that needed looking at, so I opeted for a fresh install and now I need to add drivers for my graphics card...

I sort of guessed the immediate problem was the graphics card and I thank you for the link!

I will have more setup questions now I have a fresh install....help!

OK I have a
saphire radeon hd3850 and I just tried to run the first bit of code from your link
I logged in as root from recovery.....

#equo install ati-drivers-12.6_beta_pre897

This came up with an error it couldn't recover from....I have a Swedish install and this came up:
Please Execute:
LC_ALL=en_US_utf-8 /usr/bin/equo install ati-grivers-12.6_beta_pre897...and then...

Error read only /var/lib/entropy/.using_resources...

Have you any suggestions?

This was a fress install of xfce..

Hi again!
OK! still learning the way a Gentoo based os works....I didn't try to "startx" from recovery....lol ....could login and run all your commands and now I have the basic installation....
