Audio codec OGG/Opus - "the Codec To End All Codecs"...

have you ever heard about this? sounds very promising...
any chance this will be available in gentoo/sabayon soon?

Well, in this case it's not about standards but about royality free codecs, this kind of codecs is invaluable for some applications that can't afford to pay to be able to play a sound, such as games :D

It looks very promising and easy to develop with, I think it has good potential, even if, as OGG Vorbis, it probably won't have the diffusion of AAC.

The OPUS Codec is available for gentoo, you may test it,installing with portage:

I noticed it's possible to use firefox to play opus files :>
