The issue was just resolved yesterday, for me.
@Cuchulain: have you tried, as root the following:
Code: Select all
# equo report mirrorsort sabayon-weeky
# equo update --force && equo upgrade

Maybe after recalculating the best mirror for you, you'll be able to update to Sabayon X.
casa: Sabayon Linux (KDE) - i686 su Dell Inspiron 6400.
ufficio: Mandriva 2010.2 - x86_64 su Compaq 500B MT (Intel Dual Core)

I tried booting from the v10 DVD but it offers either a fresh install or a re-install of the bootloader.

Thanks.

Just do normal updates through entropy and you'll be at Sabayon 10. No need for the DVD.

I was stuck for a couple of days with the broken checksum, so I downloaded the v10 DVD to see if I could get around the online bug. I got the online update going today with the "equo" command line stuff, so box 1 now upgraded OK to v10.

However, as I also need to upgrade a second v9 box, and as I already have the DVD, can I avoid downloading by upgrading from the DVD? The wiki implies that this is possible, but doesn't say how: "Do I have to download the LiveCD/DVD every time to upgrade?
No, Sabayon is a rolling release. However in some cases upgrading via live DVD may prove more time efficent.
".

Thanks.

Cuchulain, what I take that to mean is: "However in some cases reinstalling from the latest LiveDVD may prove more time efficient than upgrading via the Internet". This is why, even though SL is a rolling release distribution, the developers release up-to-date LiveDVDs (snapshots of the Entropy repository) quite frequently. If they didn't and you had to upgrade via the Internet after installing from a LiveDVD from a year ago, the upgrade could be hundreds of packages and take hours via a slow Internet connection. Whereas installing from a recent LiveDVD would be more time efficient.
