i3 status missing from repos?

Postby Super-Nathan » Tue Oct 16, 2012 17:13

I just switched to Sabayon from Ubuntu. I am not a big fan of the Amaz-untu collaboration.

I generally use i3 and openbox as my 2 "go-to" window managers, with i3 being my favorite. I figured the switch wouldn't be hard with i3 being what I thought was well supported.

After installing i3 I login only to notice at that point that dmenu was not a dependency ( I'm willing to help out, how can we fix this?) and i have to install it on my own.

However, My big problem is not only is there no i3status bar, it appears not to be in the repos and it not install-able.

Any i3 user have any idea how to get a status bar?

If you know how to use portage, you can install i3status from gentoo repos.
Btw, I use i3 and I have replaced i3status with conky, it works fine and probably better. Take a look at this guide, if you want.

You can file a bug if a dep issue and you can file package requests in our bugzilla also.
