comic plasmoid crashing [Solved]

Postby catmagnet » Fri Oct 05, 2012 16:49

Well, that thing insist on causing trouble. One problem solved (viewtopic.php?f=86&t=28103&p=153560#p153560), next one coming up. After reading a few strips it crashes my desktop. Totally. Black screen, everything gone, alt+tab still working though. Already opened terminal and plasma-desktop works... for a while. So here I am again, this is the output from the KDE-crash-handler:

Code: Select all
Application: Plasma-Desktop-Umgebung (plasma-desktop), signal: Segmentation fault

To me that's gibberish, so again I need some help. I already tried renaming the kde-folder and have it rebuild, but to no avail.

The comic strip Plasmoid (widget) doesn't work well in KDE 4.9.1. I had the same problem with that Plasmoid when I was using KDE 4.9.1. I'm using KDE 4.9.2 and it works much better, so hang in there. Looking at the KDE Bugzilla, the comic stip Plasmoid has a few outstanding bug reports:

Ok, then it'll have to go for now. A pity, if it worked, it would be a cute little thing.

On the other hand... 4.9.2 is in the testing repo? Although i grew more fond of this installation day by day, it's not yet my productivity system, so I can take a little risk. Anything I should know beforehand?

Since yesterdays updates everything's working just fine. I didn't switch to testing and am still on kde 4.9.1 according to rigo, so this one fixed itself. Impressive, good job, saayon-team!
