M Audio Fast track Pro Sound Card Not Working

Postby setanta » Wed Sep 26, 2012 12:43

Hi I am a recent convert to Sabayon after a few years using Ubuntu based machines. so far I really like version 10 KDE. I am dual booting with windows 7 as which I only really use for audio production, as this is the case I need a decent sound card and have disabled the onboard one so the M Ausdio Fast Track Pro works.

On Linux Mint & Zorin OS I encountered no problems with M Audio, the sound worked once I downloaded Pulse Audio Volume Control and turned off GF108 Audio controller and set M Audio ad the default sound card.

On Sabayon 10 the system picks up M Audio but when I set it to default no sound at all. If I plug in my USB headset that works fine for all sound.

I would appreciate any advice.

My sytem is new and features a quad core with 8GB ram, I am running Sabayon 64bit.

Many thanks

After alot of searching online it seems there is an issue with M Audio Fast Track Pro and KDE compatibility, it works fine from Zorin OS on my laptop. My only solution on Sabayon 10 KDE was to spend 20 Euros on a box which converts digital to analgue I am then able run a usb output to the box which then runs into my amp, sound quality seems just as good as when I playback from itunes on windows 7 with the signal going direct from usb into Fast track digitaly.

The downside is I cant do basic recording in Sabayon..if anyone finds a proper fix please post a reply to this.
