Gscan2pdf - how to install? [Solved]

Hi,

I saw that the great program gscan2pdf is not in the repository. Could anyone here tell me how to install it?

The source:

I installed all dependencies necessary but I'm still getting:

Warning: prerequisite Config::General 2.4 not found.
Warning: prerequisite Log::Log4perl 0 not found.
Warning: prerequisite PDF::API2 0 not found.
Warning: prerequisite Readonly 0 not found.
Warning: prerequisite Sane 0.05 not found.
Warning: prerequisite Set::IntSpan 1.1 not found.

so that probably doesn't sound too good...

I also found .ebuild files for gentoo here:

Can I install them? And if yes, how?

1. More complicated way, using Portage.

First, as root user in a Konsole/Terminal window, use the preparatory commands listed in the post Re: Atheros Wired Connection Problem. Then do the following:

layman -a triquetra
emerge -1v gscan2pdf

2. Easier way, using Entropy.

Click on the link 'Bugs' at the top right of this page and file a request for the package to be built and added to the Entropy repository. Wait a week or so and hope it will be added to the Entropy repository.

After installing some more dependencies, restarting and retrying your commands, I successfully installed gscan2pdf and it works!

I hope that someone will build the package anyway. I can't understand why this program hasn't been added a long time ago as in my opinion it's one of the best and most useful programs that are out there.

I agree, and have had it installed on my main machines since end 2007.
