emerge virtualbox with sys-kernel/sabayon-sources

Postby sin » Thu Sep 20, 2012 14:17

I want to emerge Virtualbox, but Portage is pulling in the Gentoo linux kernel:

Code: Select all
emerge -pv virtualbox
[...]
[ebuild  N     ] sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.5.4  USE="-build -deblob -symlink" 79,217 kB
[...]

I've installed the Sabayon kernel sources and wand to use them instead. eselect is also set:
Code: Select all
# eselect kernel list
Available kernel symlink targets:
  [1]   linux-3.5.0-sabayon *

Is there a chance to use the sabayon sources instead?

What is the reason you want to merge it via Portage rather than install it via Entropy?

I want to compile Virtualbox with CFLAGS="-O2 -march=native -pipe" compiler flags for performance, but for learning purposes also.

I followed your link and everything works fine. But the Entropy binaries seem to be outdated. I've installed version 4.1.20 with Entropy and Portage supplies 4.2.0. But that's no trouble at all for now.
