How to use other mirror's instead of 'Official'? [Solved]

I have read the Entropy Wiki.
I have a fresh install of SL 10.0
It is set to use the 'weekly' repo's by default.
I am in Australia.

My ISP has a fully up to date very fast mirror of Sabayon (mirror.optusnet.com.au).
It is listed but commented out on the entropy_sabayonlinux.org.example file.

I want to use my ISP's mirror instead of some half crippled mirror on the other side of the earth.
I enabled entropy_sabayonlinux.org & used mirrorsort using as per instructions but when I try my ISP's mirror is completely ignored.

I even edited the entropy_sabayonlinux.org file to remove ALL other mirrors except my ISP's mirror and even edited out everything in the entropy_sabayon-weekly file to show only my ISP's mirror but still the package management system insists on pulling packages from these other mirrors on the other side of the earth.

Its almost as if the dev's have hard coded the list of mirrors or something...
Gosh! What have you got to do to make it take notice of MY wishes!

This will be a deal breaker for me if this can't be fixed.
Have I done something wrong?

There is a single sentence in the entropy wiki saying the same thing without explanation. That file contains a whole lot of commented options for repositories but NO reference to setting a default or 'over-ride' repository. It's not exactly intuitive for a new user..

You mean, I just simply copy the line referring to my Australian mirror found in the sabayonlinux.org.example file and paste it into the last line of the repositories.conf file?

That will work? Correct??

Is important to note that Weekly Repos ARE the Default.

For using Australia mirror as default, add the line of the repo, in the session "Official Mirrors", after the LAST line, in the BOTTOM list. The LAST mirror is the default, not the FIRST.

Ok, thank you very much. I finally understand it now!

For the benefit of other new Australian users:

open the file

/etc/entropy/repositories.conf.d/entropy_sabayonlinux.org.example

copy the line

repository = sabayonlinux.org||http://mirror.optusnet.com.au/sabayon/entropy|

open the file

/etc/entropy/repositories.conf.d/entropy_sabayon-weekly

paste in the line at the bottom of the file but changing it to :

repository = sabayon-weekly||http://mirror.optusnet.com.au/sabayon/entropy|

run this command to check that your Optus mirror is found and indeed is fastest mirror:

equo repo mirrorsort sabayon-weekly

Now equo works like lightning.

chris2kari, the SL Wiki is community-maintained and depends on the contributions of users such as yourself. Therefore, now that you know how to do it you could update the Wiki page to explain how to do it, which would help others who are in the same position you were in.

i'd bet Mr. chris2kari used Chromium for that.
Then indeed the recaptcha is missing from the create account page.
Using firefox, or any other browser then Chromium will work.

and it's not only the Wiki,
Chromium has that issue on all pages that requires the recaptcha
(wiki, Pastebin, etc)

I use Chrome/Chromium successfully all over the web for a long time now.
Im not changing my browser to suit a borked web page thanks all the same...
