error on loading kernel - drm/i810 does not support SMP

Postby talessx » Sun Sep 16, 2012 22:37

Hallo,
I'm having problems with newest kernel linux-3.5.0-sabayon, it stops me after GRUB lounching this kernel:
"error on loading kernel - drm/i810 does not support SMP"

If I have seen right "i810" is the kernel component about an Intel processor, and SMP is a multiprocessor sysem.
But I have an AMD processor (64bit) and looks like only ONE processor:

--> lscpu <--
Architecture: x86_64
CPU op-mode(s): 32-bit, 64-bit
Byte Order: Little Endian
CPU(s): 1
On-line CPU(s) list: 0
Thread(s) per core: 1
Core(s) per socket: 1
Socket(s): 1
NUMA node(s): 1
Vendor ID: AuthenticAMD
CPU family: 16
Model: 6
Stepping: 3
CPU MHz: 800.000
BogoMIPS: 4799.54
Virtualization: AMD-V
L1d cache: 64K
L1i cache: 64K
L2 cache: 512K
NUMA node0 CPU(s): 0

Why does it load an Intel processor and an SMP system?

Here is my --> dmesg | grep drm<-- output with my newest working installed kernel (3.2.0):
