Slow Rigo after Fresh Install Update [Solved]

Postby sqlpython » Sat Sep 08, 2012 21:25

You can read my Update failure here viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27882

Now with most updated packages on this KDE fresh #9 install Not Installed. I am finding my install of New Packages Painfully Slow.. and mirrors are synced for Speed.
My first Update after Install failed and Quit.
Then I let it be and installed Netbeans and Eclipse both at 50mb or better in size.
The installs through Rigo weren't lightning fast but acceptable.
Next I attempted another Update via the Terminal with equo
...Now my recent attempt to install Adobe Reader from the Repositories was unbearable slow and had to quit it.
After 40 minutes Rigo had Downloaded 55mb of the 103mb install which I would guess included dependencies.
:( Hoping to see a fix.. not sure based on my reference to the thread above exactly what the issue is.. ?
I have to say that this is unusual behavior for a Sabayon Install.

Follow Up
After a Successful Update & Upgrade Rigo now installed Adobe PDF reader (Acroread) in a reasonable time 13 minutes..
This on a DSL averaging about a 300kb/sec rate
To Bring the System up to date I

Code: Select all
equo install entropy equo rigo --relaxed --ask
equo update
equo upgrade --ask

equo conf update

Automerge and accept all Updated Config files files

Finally Reads in System Tray UPdate "Your Sabayon is Up To Date"
Seems previous Update and Upgrade method should have worked but there was an a repository issue.
The issue was resolved, at least for me, 12 hrs later..Maybe sooner as I didn't try until 12 hrs later.
... I have read about a fix but ...Thanks anyhow..

I beleive Sunday 9th Sept was the day many users would be updating to Sabayon X, so the servers were just very busy.

^ Probably so..
However Rigo while poweful continues to be very slow installing packages.
The search and utility functions appear to work at good speed.
