I think your filesystem is to some extent, corrupted...

The real question is can you reproduce this?
It is possible that drive is failing or there are some bad sectors?

No, I cannot reproduce it, I am sorry.
However, I think that the "dmesg" output (kernel messages) could tell us more about it.

Yes please notice the rtc_cmos value

Just for the laugh i made another dmesg output it is different than the first one but its all gibberish to me
http://pastebin.sabayon.org/pastie/10425

fsck.ext4 says that the partition is ok however it says that after just one second... and that looks suspicious to me

If it got mounted ro and that dmesg output was collected after it happened, I would have seen it right there.
Please collect the output AFTER your / has been remounted ro.

Re: Equo upgrade fails [Solved]

Postby deneb_ja » Thu Sep 13, 2012 11:39

Hello everybody,
I have a possible similar problem: I was happily running a multi boot configuration (Windowxs 7 and OpenSuse 12.1), lead by Sabayon 9 with Grub. :)

Last week I upgraded Sabayon 9 using Rigo. It introduced Sabayon 10 and Grub2 in theory, but from that moment, my multiboot, despite it is still working and I can access everything, displays several File not Found errors. And also when I select the Sabayon distro, it gives the same type of errors. However, eventually it starts.

Analysing the configuration I realised that Grub2 was not fully installed, missing the entire grub2 folder in the boot folder, and in this way it could not create the grub.cfg file. I did it manually and I run the
grub2-mkconfig - /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
command.

However the system is still controlled by the old grub. My question is:
can I keep running sabayon (now is 10) with the old grub without having all this errors? or Do I have to install the grub2 from scratch? [and what happpen to the old grub than?]
Thanks a lot
