Kernel update with no dependant packages [Solved]

Hi,

I'm using weekly repo.
Now equo upgrade offers me kernel update, but no updates for dependant packages (nvidia, virtualbox, ect).
This is the first time such update arrives. Previously each kernel update was accompanied by corresponding updates for dependant packages.

The question is: is it safe to perform such update?

As you can see there is a lonely update for sys-kernel/linux-sabayon-3.5.

After the update Xserver wont start in my case, so I would wait with the updates...

after update I got the following error (Xorg.0.log):

Fortunately lxnay helped me to sort it out. Just needed to add modules="radeon" to /etc/conf.d/modules.

I think I won't have a problem similar to yours, because I use nVidia GPU. Still I might be wrong

Again my main concern is the absence of dependant packages (nvidia driver, virtualbox modules, ect) for upkoming kernel update.

The kernel version number remains after the update the same, so it shouldn't cause any issues I guess.

I went ahead and did the upgrade. I have a recent ATI card (HD6770) and run the ATI proprietary Catalyst driver. I had no problems after the upgrade.
