Problem while updating. [Solved]

Postby akshitbaunthiyal » Mon Aug 06, 2012 6:22

I recently installed Sabayon on my laptop (dual booting with Windows). While trying to update, using Ringo or the command line, it fails. Here is a link to the error message - http://pastebin.sabayon.org/pastie/10181

What is the output of:
Code: Select all
#equo --version

I would suggest trying to update equo/entropy by themselves by doing the following:

Code: Select all
#equo update --force && equo install equo --relaxed

If that runs to completion successfully, then try upgrading everything from there (either using equo or rigo). If it doesn't, then you might have to use portage to install a working entropy environment. It's really not very tricky, so don't be too worried.

Although, since you just recently installed Sabayon, I'm wondering if something went slightly wrong in the download/burn/install process.

I had this problem yesterday as well whilst setting up a new xfce machine.
I did "equo install entropy equo rigo --relaxed --ask" before installing or upgrading any packages.
I just kept doing "equo upgrade" until eventually it installed ok, maybe another package in the queue needed to be installed before it would install successfully.

Ps I used a known good v9 xfce dvd with the chksum verified.

All is ok now anyway.

Thank you very much for your replies. But I fixed it already. I just installed app-mis/ca-certificates-20120623 package manually and then did the full system upgrade. It worked.

Exploring the distro and loving every 'inch' of it. :D

I did my first system update on a newly installed Sabayon 9 Gnome x86_64.
I got this exact error when updating my system using
Code: Select all
equo upgrade --ask

I installed the app-misc/ca-certificates-20120623 packet manually but I got this warning
Code: Select all
>>    ## Installerar paket: app-misc/ca-certificates-20120623
>>    ## [Common CA Certificates PEM files]
/usr/lib/entropy/lib/entropy/client/interfaces/package.py:3092: UnicodeWarning: Unicode equal comparison failed to convert both arguments to Unicode - interpreting them as being unequal
  if tofile in misc_settings['configprotectskip']:

The packet installed successfully but I'm not sure if this error is something to worry about or if it can be fixed somehow.
