VLC and RTSP problem

Postby DarkSideK11 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 11:53

Hello,

It' s my first post so i hope iam in the good topic.

I have a problem to play rtsp stream with vlc.

My installation was a laptop with dual boot betwen sabayon 9 (last update) and Windows Seven.

Before i was a Debian (and of course ubuntu too) user since several years and i want to try sabayon and gentoo linux.

On my laptop, under ubuntu livecd, windows seven and other OS, i can play RTSP stream under vlc with no problem
but under sabayon, i can't i have this error

"main error: open of `rtsp://mafreebox.freebox.fr/fbxtv_pub/stream?namespace=1&service=201&flavour=ld' failed"

I have modify my "/etc/portage/package.use/00-sabayon.package.use/00-sabayon.package.use" with th following lines :
initial line :
media-video/vlc egl xulrunner aalib id3tag httpd vlm libass -live samba vaapi fontconfig skins rtsp lua

Replace by :

media-video/vlc egl xulrunner aalib id3tag httpd vlm libass -live samba vaapi fontconfig skins rtsp lua dvd ffmpeg mpeg mad wxwindows aac dts a52 ogg flac theora oggvorbis matroska freetype bidi xv svga gnutls stream vlm httpd cdda vcd cdio live

each time i make a change, i purge vlc and reinstall it.

Despite there is "rtsp" none works even if i flush the firewall rules.

I work on this problem for ten days.

I don't understand and I am sorry but it's a real big problem because a lot of french people like me have a freebox and one of the interest of the french freebox is to play tv stream on any computer.

Can someone help me to solve this and for the future release correct this problem ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi

/etc/portage/package.use is only for portage not entropy

rtsp use flag is enabled in entropy : see https://packages.sabayon.org/show/vlc,8 ... 5,standard "UseFlags"

check your vlc settings.

if you can't solve this problem please file a report https://bugs.sabayon.org/

Hi,

I have the same problem with the freebox and I solve it by recompiling vlc from source ... (in french http://systemx.nosuke.org/index.php/pos ... %A9solu%5D)

On the same computer I use also arch without this problem.
I would be happy also to have it working in SL nativly !

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

for sabayonino :

thanks i have already seen the use flag but it don't works so I have create a bug report on bugzilla
the ID is 3526.

for manifesto :

I have tried to recompliling vlc but i have some problem with the compilation my ./configure return errors and the ENV variable of my sabayon are wrong with the command env | grep gcc i have this result :

MANPATH=/etc/java-config-2/current-system-vm/man:/usr/local/share/man:/usr/share/man:/usr/share/binutils-data/i686-pc-linux-gnu/2.22/man:/usr/share/gcc-data/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.6.2/man:/etc/java-config/system-vm/man/
GCC_SPECS=/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.6.2/vanilla.specs
INFOPATH=/usr/share/info:/usr/share/binutils-data/i686-pc-linux-gnu/2.22/info:/usr/share/gcc-data/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.6.2/info

but in my /usr/share/gcc-data/i686-pc-linux-gnu/, i have a 4.6.3 after correction in 4.6.3 i still have bug.

Which command line do you use to send at the ./configure of vlc ?

Thanks a lot

What error do you have at compilation time ?
I did it a while ago and on x64 arch, so it may be different env that what you have.
I will have a look later when back home.
