I can't help with rigo as I don't have it installed, but why not use entropy?
eg to remove Firefox:

Code: Select all
# equo remove firefox --configfiles --ask
>>  @@ These are the chosen packages:
>>    # (1/1) [sabayon-weekly] www-client/firefox-13.0 [515.7MB]
>>  @@ Packages involved: 1
Would you like to calculate dependencies ? [Yes/No] y
>>  @@ These are the packages that would be removed:
>>  ## [sabayon-weekly] www-client/firefox-13.0 [515.7MB]
>>  @@ Packages needing to be removed: 1
>>  @@ Freed disk space: 515.7MB
>>  @@ Total bandwidth wasted: 23.2MB
Would you like to proceed ? [Yes/No]

If doing the above pulls in dependencies you want to keep, use --nodeps switch as well.
--configfiles removes the configuration files as well.

Code: Select all
equo conf update
equo deptest && equo libtest

Using rigo is still using entropy, it is just a frontend, like equo :)

You can remove a package using rigo with the same method you install a package, you search for it (e.g. search for firefox), you highlight the package and you press the Remove button.

Moving this topic to the Entropy|Equo|Sulfur section, as it is related to entropy.

I can hardly say this RIgo is convenient, because I have to know the name of the packeage or program to type it, Sulfur was waaaay much better because if I didn't know the packages and I wanted to remove 50 games it's was much much easier to see a list instead of remembering the names and typing them in one by one, a rahter awkward way of doing such a simple task.

Is it still possible to install and use Sulfur?

Sulfur was nearly perfect, it was very efficient, very intuitive and clear. Especially I could go to the whole category like "games", tick 20-50 boxes and press Commit.
Try doing the same with Entropy or Rigo, you have type each program/package name in one at a time. For eample you want to remove the game called KSnakeDuel found in the Games menu, type "snake" or "ksnake " -> not found in Rigo!
I type "game" and ... OK, I have a massive list of everything related to games, but I have to click on each item to see the "Install/Remove" button.

BTW, Rigo needs to be fixed, because when it asks me to type the ROOT password the window hides behind the main Rigo window, which is wrong.

Rigo is still under development.

Richlion wrote:because I have to know the name of the packeage or program to type it

You can still use groups, like games-strategy to search stuff, exactly like sulfur did, anyway, as I said, it's still under development.

Richlion wrote:Is it still possible to install and use Sulfur?

Of course, since rigo is under development, sulfur is still available, just install it and remove rigo and you're done.

Richlion wrote:Sulfur was nearly perfect, it was very efficient, very intuitive and clear.

Sulfur was very, very slow and its codebase was apparently very old and hard to maintain, thus rigo was born. You can still use sulfur during the "transition".

Richlion wrote:Try doing the same with Entropy or Rigo, you have type each program/package name in one at a time.

Not really, with rigo you just type the category, use the arrow keys to navigate the packages, the installed ones will have the "Remove" button available, you just press it and it will remove them in background while you proceed. I agree that a filter for installed/available packages would be useful, maybe implementing some sort of DuckDuckGo shebang like syntax for them, like:
Code: Select all
!i search-term
!a search-term

for installed and available respectively.

With equo you could run something like:
Code: Select all
equo remove --configfiles --ask $(equo query installed --quiet matching-term)

Anyway, entropy is the package manager, equo, rigo and sulfur are the actual frontends :)

That's because you probably meant to search kspaceduel

That's a well aged bug in KDE4 policykit window, rigo can't fix KDE4 bugs :P

Running "RIGO" simply type game and looking for you need.

Rigo will show all "games" match (entyire category or a single package)

Example : looking for "web browser" and "filemanager" ; search , choose and go.

or "nvidia"
Image

and so on...

Personally I have no problem with using equo, I suppose it depends on what you call "easy". Certainly, for setting up a new system & installing all packages in one go I use equo, very easily. Counter productive & back to the stone age is not what i would call it.

I agree. I use Rigo occasionally, but I do most of my updating and upgrading with equo. It seems fairly equivalent to apt-get on Debian-based systems and pacman on Arch-based systems.
