For me, ir pure a personal choice.
some file systems are faster for small files,others for large files, some are good in areas with electrical failure, btrfs is new etc...
i normally use Ext4 ou Reiserfs for booting partitions and xfs or jfs for /home and backups. Reiserfs is interesting for me, because in my City, electrical power failures are common, and reiserfs is stronger for not broken easy and have powerfull journalling system.
al least in my somewhat old HDD, the btrfs was unstable and diffcult to correct errors.
