Saybayon 9 Blank Screen

Postby dogbert0360 » Tue Jun 26, 2012 4:53

Downloaded and burned Saybayon 9 xfce and when I tried to boot to live mode, all I got was a blank screen with no keyboard or mouse functions. I then did a hard reboot and tried selecting safe mode with the same results.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

PC Spec's:

Dell Optimus GX280
500 gig external HDD
2 gig RAM
NVidia 8400 GS 500 ram

Let me explain further....

After burning Saybayon 9 to DVD, I rebooted to the grub screen and chose the Live desktop mode. It went blank with just the blinking cursor in the upper left corner. That then disappeared and I assumed the anaconda screen would appear. I waited and nothing happened. Thats when I noticed that my keyboard wasn't functioning and so wasn't my mouse.

Never had this problem with earlier releases of Saybayon nor other distro's. I just would like to know why this is happening and what is causing it.

I would try using NOAPIC as a boot parameter.

You could also try and see what hitting alt+ctrl+f7 or alt+ctrl+f1 does when you get to that stuck state.

Thank you for your response...

Haven't tried NOAPIC but did try using alt+ctrl+F7 to force xorg but since the keyboard wasn't working this wasn't effective.

Since my keyboard and mouse weren't functioning, using NOAPIC wouldn't help either. Could it be possible that there is a bug in the live DVD?

Well Stupot I did some snooping when I rebooted the live DVD and applied the "NOAPIC" to the kernel line at the grub screen and....."Vola, it worked!"

I was able to get to the anaconda boot screen and desktop. I was very impressed with Saybayon 9 xfce that I installed it to my external HDD. Thank you so very much!!!

One thing that I would like to say is that though I do like the new Package manager "Rigo", I would like to see the power's to be make it like Deepin Linux'es software center. It's a very nice looking and more modern too. You can install and uninstall apps and do upgrades. What do you think about this suggestion?

Well I can see that I wasn't the only one with this problem. This should have been implemented during the creation of the Live CD.

Hope this will be corrected soon so that others won't have this same issue too..."Please!"
