Help!!accidentaly deleted glibc lib!! [Solved]

Postby sedo_5 » Mon Jun 25, 2012 21:47

Hi everyone!
Please help me...I don't know what I was thinking at that moment...but accidentally deleted glibc file (/lib/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2).
Of course right after one second, the whole system became uncontrollable...not a single command is working from the terminal (in fact I'm using another pc).
Please...tell me there's something I can do instead of reinstalling my system from scratches

of course the problem is quite severe...so I'll thank you a lot if you could help me as quick as possible ...

Thanks in advance and sorry for the stupidest err :!: or..

By the way, I've just recalled having filled a bug entry for a related issue, bug id is 3357 .
If you search it into the bug database you'll find also an 'ls' of my /lib folder...
Basing on what I wrote there, I'm assuming I could have also deleted /lib/ld-2.13.so (don't know what it is) since symlinked..
Wow...I wish there was an easy workaround for this... :-(

Hi there,
I'm not sure if this will work, but you could try to boot from an up to date live-cd (or usb-stick) and copy the file from the working live cd to your hdd. May be not the best solution, but may be worth trying out.

cheers

well...at the end the problem was very vast, so I decided to reinstall the system...which has had its advantages anyway :)
