After installing gtx670, grub hangs on uevents

Postby s42ky » Thu Jun 21, 2012 20:13

I recently added in a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 to my build and when I tried to boot into Sabayon, udev would hang. It gets hung up on one modprobe and can't boot. If I remove the card, it boots normally, but that's not the way I want to dual boot Windows and Linux. The system is fully up to date and has the current nvidia drivers installed through Sulfur/Rigo. It doesn't matter if I select recovery or normal boot from the boot menu.

Message in GRUB while booting (relavent section):
Code: Select all
udevadm settle - timeout of 60 seconds reached, the event queue contains:
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0 (2089)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/drm/control1D64 (2826)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/drm/card0 (2827)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/i2c-0 (2828)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/i2c-1 (2829)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/i2c-2 (2830)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/i2c-3 (2831)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/i2c-4 (2832)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/i2c-5 (2833)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/i2c-6 (2834)
   /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/i2c-7 (2835)

then
Code: Select all
udevd[6341]: timeout: killing '/sbin/modprobe -bv pci:v00008086d00000162sv00001043sd000084CAbc03sc00i00' [6367]

repeats for quite a while. If I let it sit long enough, it'll (sometimes) go to a blank screen with a single underscore character, but I can't type.

Full /var/log/messages from the failed boot:

System Info:
CPU: Intel 3770k
MoBo: Asus Z77 Pro
Gfx: GIGABYTE GV-N670OC-2GD GeForce GTX 670
1SSD + 2 HDD in RAID1

Any ideas of things to try? Is there something I need to blacklist in modprobe relavent to the new card? Is it conflicting with the Intel on-chip graphics?
