rpm installs but does not build rpmrc file

Postby vaettchen » Sun Jun 03, 2012 17:40

I want to install a Brother printer and I have the corresponding installation files as .rpm but when I try to use rpm on my brand new Sabayon 3.4 server, I get this error:

Code: Select all
equo install rpm

I tried pre-creating the directory but then I get this instead:
Code: Select all
error: can't create transaction lock on / (Is a directory)

Is somebody out there who who can tell me how to make rpm work?

Thanks,
Rainer

If I'm not mistaken you can skip rpm as described here: Re: Can I install .rpm or .deb drivers on Sabayon?
Don't know if it applies for your printer too.

I'll actually Help, you need to make a symlink to get rpm to work, just type ln -s /usr/libexec/rpm /usr/lib/rpm
now rpm should work for ya..
