Python3 and Dbus

Postby bahamutsfire » Sat Jun 16, 2012 14:42

Hi everyone,

i tried to use veromix(GTk) but got stuck on this errorline
Code: Select all
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "main.py", line 21, in <module>
    import os, gettext, dbus, dbus.service
ImportError: No module named dbus

It looks to me that python3 can´t load the dbus plugin. I have installed the equo-version of dbus-python and after that the portage version => same error.

eselect ptyhon to version 3 makes no difference.

Please help i have my problems with the python2 and python3 conflicts.

cheers

Hi there,
Veromix for GTK looks promissing enough, but I didn't managed to get it to work in Sabayon. To start itself it uses /usr/bin/python3 - no need to use eselect.

Out of curriosity I tried it out in Ubuntu and I can say that it is a pretty young project. It integrates an icon in the tray and opens the setting window like in the screenshots. The bad thing is it removes the icon when you close the window (needs a restart to use it again).
The equalizer doesn't work yet, though I installed all recommended and optional packages.

As you can see there are some things broken. The dev is updating nearly every two days. If the dev keeps up his speed it could be all fixed in a few weeks.

cheers
