Hello,

Has anyone got a networked HP printer working with Sabayon?

I have set it up using hp-setup as root and it is visible in HPLIP Status gui, and Cups, and KDE printer system settings. When I send a test page, the job is marked as successfully completed but nothing comes out of the printer. Network scanning works fine. Hp-check doesn't show any problems except

I'm using several HP printers (amongst others) on various networks: HP Color LaserJet 5500dn, HP Color LaserJet 5550hdn, HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi. Whilst I do have HPLIP installed (amongst other printer-related packages) I don't use it; I used the CUPS browser interface http://localhost:631/ to set the printers up for Linux. I never ran hp-setup or any other HP tool.

Thanks for the confirmation that it can be made to work.

The printer is visible in Cups. When I try to print a test page from Cups, it stops saying "/usr/libexec/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed".

had the same problem with my 7500e910. During setup with hplip the correct driver is not installed. It is installed from usr/share/ppd/HP the ............hpijs.ppd.gz and that is wrong. You have to setup your printer new with hplip device manager, delete printer and fax afterward setup new device, network wireless, select your hp officet and now open beside the PPD file the blue icon "Browse for an alternative PPD driver and select for your model thepropriet driver without hpijs.
"hp-officejet_8500_e910.ppd.gz" and it should work. At least for me it worked this way
