Shotwell issues w/ LXDE, works in Gnome

Postby paul42 » Tue May 22, 2012 19:23

Hi Everyone,

I use LXDE and also use Shotwell to manage my photos. Until recently, all was fine, except now the tree menu on the left hand side of shotwell shows very faint/invisible fonts. If you select/highlight a line, it is then visible, but obviously not very useful. I re-installed Pango and Shotwell with no effect.

If I log out of my LXDE session and log into Gnome, Shotwell works as expected.

The same (or very similiar - GTK?) tree menu in Evolution works fine on LXDE.

If the above image doesn't display, it's supposed to be here: http://pastebin.sabayon.org/pastie/9465

Any pointers on where to start would be appreciated, thanks.

Otherwise I guess its a theme issue, is it the same across GTK theme switches?

I honestly thought your suggestion on themes would work, but no luck. Re-installing the libraries did not work either.

It is interesting though, applying different themes, colors, fonts, those changes are all visible immediately in both Evolution and Shotwell. The *only* thing I cannot change is the text color of the tree menu in shotwell, even though I can change the style and size of font, the background color, and both foreground and background color of normal windows and selected items.

Last item, in the preferences menu on shotwell there is another tree menu of sorts, and it works fine.

Thanks.

Almost sounds like shotwell is explicitly setting those colours, which would seem a strange thing to do. :?:
