grub-mkconfig

Postby raifi1234 » Sat May 05, 2012 22:39

Until april 2012 an existing Ubuntu was found by grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub cfg "$@",
but after upgrading Ubuntu 11.10 (64-bit) to Ubuntu 12.04 the entryy for the upgraded
Ubuntu is missing in grub.cfg.
I must say that I do not use a special boot partition.
The only way to start Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Gnome is by Super Grub Disk (SGD 1!!).
I am using Sabayon Xfce.
Multi-boot includes XP/Pro, OpenSuSe 12.1, Ubuntu and the current Sabayon.

Re: grub-mkconfig [solved]

Update:
I tried with the actual Parted Magic 2012,searching
for cfg-files and found "msdos2" (i.e. 2nd partition)giving
the Ubuntu boot menue, and another
"msdos7" (i.e partition 7) leading to the Sabayon boot menue.
The latter does not show an Ubuntu entry,
the first shows Sabayon as an "Gentoo based system".
How do bring them together?

Update 2:
While the updated Ubuntu 11.10 (to 12.04 LTS) uses Grub legacy
instead of Grub2 it is necessary to
use the command
upgrade-from-grub-legacy
That brings Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to the "leading"
installation (instead of Sabayon that I had been
using before).
