KnetworkManager fails to connect wlan [Solved]

Postby xyz » Fri Apr 27, 2012 12:37

Hello,
I am not able to connect anymore to my hidden wlan network with KnetworkManager, but I have no problem to connect with Windows.

Any idea what could caused that problem?

What version of SL KDE are you using? Have you fully updated your Entropy database and upgraded all packages? KNetworkManager is history. The KDE GUI front-end to NetworkManager was replaced by kde-misc/networkmanagement many months ago.

KNetworkManager used to be the KDE front-end to the DE-agnostic NetworkManager but the KDE front-end for NetworkManager is now the Plasmoid kde-misc/networkmanagement.

If you have updated the Entropy database and upgraded all packages you should not have the package knetworkmanager on your machine any more. After updating and upgrading, if knetworkmanager is still installed for some odd reason then uninstall knetworkmanager and install networkmanagement instead.

Re: networkmanagement fails to connect wlan

I am using SL 8 with KDE 4.8.2 and I updated last week SL and the wlan was working fine after that. I did a mistake, because I have networkmanagement installed and not KnetworkManager.

However, I still have a problem with VLC which caused kmix to crash and I thought I will copy .kde4 to .kde4bak to fix that. I restarted laptop and vlc still did not work with kmix together. I had to typed again my internet connection and then it was working. Than I copied .kde4bak to .kde4 and restarted.

Since than I am not able to connect to the internet through wlan and even Kwallet does not popup to ask me for the password.

How is it possible to fix the internet connection?

Thank you in advance.
