Unse gentoo distfiles on sabayon machine?

Postby Martux » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:21

Hello!
I have a rather weird question today:
I am having a fast Gentoo-box with a 64bit i7 CPU and a rather slowish 32bit laptop, single core, on which I installed Sabayon for good reasons. Problem is now that here where I am (Philippines), the Internet connection is a pita and basically I download many packages twice, once for my Gentoo machine and then some days later Sabayon asks for it again...
Isn't there a techy, nice way to reuse my gentoo-distfiles or to deploy packages to the sabayon machine?
I hope I made clear what I mean.

Thanks

Only if you use Portage on the Sabayon machine.

Yeah, that is clear. But of course I want to avoid compiling... Is there something like distcc or binpkg available?

One thing you could do is set up a web proxy cache, that way you would only have to download the package files once (of course this doesn't solve the issue of having to compile twice...)
