Weird stuff [Solved]

Postby chasha420 » Mon Apr 02, 2012 7:23

Sup guys, a few minutes ago I just realised that the conky I had installed on my computer was gone...the reason? I had previously uninstalled audacious, and it also removed conky along with it.

What i wanna know is how is something like conky related to a music player like audacious? Lol. I also noticed something similar before...I installed something and along with it anjuta IDE got installed as a dependency..

Code: Select all
 # equo install conky

Can someone explain to me if that is normal?

Thanks.

not sure why, but i guess because you can monitor audacious with Conky., and therefore they pull each other as a dependency.
But always, always use at least the --ask or --pretend flag, when removing stuff from Entropy.,
so you won't be surprised by the system.
Did you have a custom .conkyrc in your ~/ ? hopefully it's still there.
Conky doesn't need audacious, nor it's plugins, it's functioning very well without them, so it's safe to remove audacious with the --nodeps flag.
eg. : equo remove audacious audacious-plugins --nodeps

@batvink: Thanks man...the --nodeps flag only uninstalls audacious without removing conky...but I hope that doesn't have any adverse affect on Conky & I have a custom conkyrc. I'll post updates if something goes wrong

sorry, didn't saw that... to late...

removing audacious even with --nodeps also removes the libaudclient.so.2
leaving you with a non-working conky...

Sorry for the double post...but it seems removing audacious really did mess up conky Lol. They are a match made in heaven!

Code: Select all
$ conky &                                                                                                                                                                  [17:23:43]
[1] 10267
conky: error while loading shared libraries: libaudclient.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[1]  + 10267 exit 127   conky

This is my conky config:

Code: Select all

Well I guess the bug report explains the reason for the dependency,

Thanks for letting me know.
