Slow or no start of some apps - KDE 4.8.1

Postby apiaio » Fri Mar 30, 2012 18:11

Sometime after startup of kde I cant start some apps - konqueror, VLC, kaffeine and firefox and if starts e.g. kaffeine starts slowly and after start does not display TV program guide. After reboot is everything OK. Once happened that I was not able correctly switch off PC from KDE. I tryied to do that manually. But no success
shutdown -r now
bash:/ sbin/shutdown: /input/output error
As I remember well problem started after one unexpected power cut. But I am not sure.
Maybe I should rebuild the system. Does exists something like
Code: Select all
emerge -e world
with equo ?

When kde seems non-responsive, has kmix loaded on the panel? Occasionally, kde will start & apps won't open. Pressing the power button means I wait about 60 seconds before the leave dialog appears. I can then log out (it takes maybe 10 times longer than normal) then log back in normally. Kmix will have started & all is well. This started for me in 4.8.0 & happens maybe 1 in 5 bootups. It's been mentioned on the forum before.

Thanks. Yes, it works like that. I never noticed missing kmix icon. Does exist any solution how to fix it?

Is something new? I upgraded to KDE 4.8.2. Now it happens almost every time. It is embarrasing.
