I need to wait for upstream Gentoo to fix this collision.

You can use Portage to install it yourself, at your own risk.

python pip is really powerful tool. I have never heard about the other pip before or how useful it is.

I do not understand why python pip has been not called pypi like the side (http://pypi.python.org/pypi).

The bug comments are already few month old. Is it possible to check whether Sabayon user are using pip (non python) and if not to replace it by python pip?

Why not try easy_install? It's exactly similar to pip...I don't see much of a difference other than a progress bar in pip which easy_install lacks imo...and I think you can install python-pip from easy_install itself.

To get easy_install make sure you have the following package:

Code: Select all
# equo search setuptools
>>  @@ Searching...
>>      @@ Package: dev-python/setuptools-0.6.25 branch: 5, [sabayonlinux.org]
>>         Available:     version: 0.6.25 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revision: 0
>>         Installed:     version: 0.6.25 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revision: 0
>>         Slot:          0
>>         Homepage:      http://pypi.python.org/pypi/distribute
>>         Description:   Distribute (fork of Setuptools)
