no network with sabayon 8 [Solved]

I'm an absolutely Sabayon newbie, so please be patient with me.
I just run the sabayon 8 64 Bit KDE DVD and unfortunately I do not get any network access. Running ifconfig there is only the loopback device no eth0 or similar.
The KDE network control module does not offer any wired connection.

lspci reports:
04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 01)

Any advice?

Type "BCM57780" into the Search box at the top right of this page and try the fix given in one of the posts, as this controller has been discussed before.
