From my perspective: if you want stability with not many hassles, then Debian-based are the distros for you. However: if you don't mind getting your feet 'wet' , having state-of-the-art technology, a rolling-release rather than downloading a DVD each time a new version comes out - then Sabayon is an excellent choice. And besides - the people here in the forums are polite and very knowledgeable. Sabayon is truly a distro worth sinking your teeth into - your knowledge grows as it grows. That's my 1 1/2 cents worth!
Knowledge is a double-edged sword. It can help you or hinder you.
Agree on both speakers above =) You can turn your Debian into bleeding edge but know if its worth the hazzle, been running both Stable and Bleeding Debian myself. I would say you burn a cd of both Debian and Sabayon and give them a spin in Livemode.
I think the OP is asking if Sabayon is more stable than the Debian testing branch. Debian has stable, testing, unstable and possible others. IFAIK Sabayon uses Gentoo stable branch which should be at least as stable as Debian testing.
all kernels are the latest stable according to distrowatch except crunch-bang which is from the November release.
on a further note KDE is at 4.7.4 Sabayon is at 4.7.1 and Debian is at 4.4.5 Which I believe KDE puts out a minor version (ie 4.4 to 4.5) every six months so by that calculation Debian has a super stable KDE that is at least 18 months behind bleeding edge Sabayon.

I agree with wolfden.
It's hard to tell which is "better", ... linux in common is very good. The choice you make, depends on your interests, hardware, and usage.
Sabayon indeed uses Gentoo-unstable, but i find it "awfully stable" as Throdon says, because of Lxnay and the develop team. They're doing an excellent job.
