USB - two issues on KDE

Postby Richlion » Tue Jan 10, 2012 13:23

Hello,

I would like to report two issues I have with SL and KDE using USB sticks. My system is up to date, so this is what used to work, and now it doesn't:

1) Any MP4 file copied to a USB stick cannot be played from the USB stick. Also transferring that file to another SL/KDE PC cannot be played. I works only on the master system.

2) With the previous SL/KDE version I would plug in a USB device, mount it, if I decided to unmount it I could do so from the "Places" in Dolphin (right-click and disconnect), if I needed to access the same device I would simply click again. Now with the new KDE version I have to unplug the USB device from the port and plug it in back in order to mount it again. It's rather annoying, is this by desing in KDE, or is this a bug?

Thanks
Richard

I've just checked and I don't experience either of those problems with KDE 4.7.4, but I'm not using Entropy. King_DuckZ posted recently about not being able to remount a USB drive dismounted via Device Notifier (I don't experience that problem either): Unmounting from KNotifier makes the device disappear. Have you tried right-clicking on Device Notifier, clicking on Device Notifier Settings > Automounting and trying different settings?

I don't have access to another Linux machine at present. so cannot corroborate or otherwise.

Moving this thread to the '3D Desktops and Window Managers' shed (forum).
