ralink 2860/2870 removed after last update

Hello, I did an equo upgrade yesterday and I got the notice about some packages being removed from the repository. I deleted them as suggested.
Tbh, the thing was a little broken because it suggested I remove boost, which is a little crazy. Other than that, I removed ralink-rt2860 and ralink-rt2870, then after rebooting I have no more internet connection.
lspci reports:
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100

I went to http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/ then, and noticed the announcement at the top of the page, about the driver being merged into the kernel. So, what do I have to do to get my network card back to work?

Running ifconfig now doesn't show anything at all, while normally I see eth0, wlan0 and lo. Any help about this please?

equo install libnl

libnl is the culprit, if you have no network to install it, try dhcpcd eth0 or wlan0 or whatever you need..
Point is if you can get network long enough to equo install libnl you will be fine.... been awhile since I have seen this issue.

The command dhcpcd eth0 worked great, so I could connect to the internet. Then I installed libnl and rebooted but nothing changed I don't even see the networkmanager icon in the KDE plasmoids list :/ Though equo reports networkmanager to be installed...

(there's a localization typo as well: "ffile" got two "f")
Is there a command in equo to re-install a package, something like urpmi --replacepkgs from Mandriva?


Update:
I think I got the network running again. I think I was missing a file called libwimaxll.so, and after reinstalling the correct package the network was back when I rebooted. Beats me how I lost that file though. Also, equo libtest reported no problems, although it mentioned this file in its output (I couldn't find it even after updatedb/locate).

The last problem left is that NetworkManager icon is missing. I don't have it in the tray nor in the plasmoid list :/ I used the command /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart, everything seems fine but there's no icon nowhere.

I had the same problem with the nm-applet icon missing. It would not start in terminal either. I ran

equo deptest

and it loaded wimax tools for me, and updated perl. Then I had my icon back, and with it, my wired network connectivity returned (after a reboot). How did it get lost to start with? I may never know, but it worked OK until I installed the latest updates.
