Re: Installation process crash at beginning

Postby kxp » Wed Nov 30, 2011 13:24

Last night I was in IRC and they couldn't resolve the problem, so they found me an iso of sabayon 6, and could start normally live cd. After that I reboot and choose installation, and no problems during the installation. When the pc restart to enter in sabayon I get stuck after grub, it seems like the same way I get stuck in sabayon 7.
In live mode is running a 2.6.39 kernel version and after installation in grub it appears to be a 3.1.0 version.
This morning I made a trick, I made a boot usb again with sabayon 7 and then replace the "boot" paste for the version I found in sabayon 6 guess what, I can start sabayon in live cd and install, but probably after the installation I will get in the same spot, but I will try to install it.
it seems like a bug in sabayon 3.1 kernel, since in Arch i dind´t have this kind of problems with 3.1 kernel.

Any sugestion?
Edit:I checked /var/log with an usb live disk and there is no log.

I belive that I'am alone in this problem, but in matter of fact I found a way to "solve" the problem by hard mode, let me explain just in case someone have the problem.
In fact my problem is in sabayon 3.1 kernel, i don't have any log because the system couldn't even start. After the installation I downloaded 2.6.37-sabayon kernel and decompressed to my live usb disk, then i rebooted and started in console mode and copy every file to respective folder, after that I created a new entry for this kernel version in grub.cfg, save and reboot.
Thats it, now i can install other kernel or compile this to do it in the right way.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me here and in IRC:D

P.S.:Try to understand whats happening in 3.1 kernel, or if anyone with same type of laptop have the same problem.

Kernel's upstream is aware about some problems with new kernel.
