16th Nov. update breaks Firefox, Thunderbird, [Solved]

I have only the sabayonlinux.org repo.
Should I change the repo with the sabayon-weekly.org?

I would advise waiting until whatever is broken gets fixed. I think it may have something to do with base-gcc-4.6.2 as that is the first update before the kde 4.7.3 and I seem to recall that Firefox wouldn't open as soon as that update had completed.

hey guys, i had the same problem.
and i think i've found a solution.

i did "equo update --force && equo upgrade"
then i got this message:

so, i did that,

and everything is working again. Chromium, Firefox, mail, amsn. (yes, even amsn was complaining...)

Following the instruction after the big upgrade I had already run . /etc/profile. Doing it again makes no difference here.

check your gcc profile :

Is it set to 4.6.2 ?

Reinstalled base-gcc-4.6.2 and ran the commands again. Everything working OK. Thank you everyone.

I've got the same problem with the web-browsers. But I'm new and I don 't know much how to follow what you said you did to fix the problem.
When I did the upgrade I got that same message. I didn't know if the following commands were for running at the moment of the massage during the upgrade or after. I didn't run them yet.

Then, with the command "gcc-config -l" I get three numbers:

4.4.5
4.5.3 *
4.6.2

It seems to be using gcc 4.5.3. The 4.6.2 is installed. What command to run to make it use the 4.6.2?
I also installed "lafilefixer" and then used the command "lafilefixer --justfixit"
I've checked the system with

# equo binutils-config -l

and

# equo libtest

. It is healthy. But web-browsers not working.
Help please. Thank you.

Running the commands now should work. so, as root, you need to do

(the important one) and

. /etc/profile

If it still doesn't work then try

Code: Select all

equo install base-gcc-4.6.2

and run the commands again.
